Once the sod has established its roots, you may water less frequently and mow for the first time.
Try to lift up a co er of the sod. If you feel resistance, the roots have rooted. If you can pick it up easily, with no resistance, the roots haven’t fully developed.
After the sod has been installed for about 1 month, the grass will be ready to be fertilized for the first time.
Minimize foot traffic for 2-3 weeks after installation.

If Your New Sod Doesn't Look Like it Matches:
Sod takes time to decompress and even out
If your sod pallets have been unrolled in different directions, initially they will look different. The grass blades need time to stand up straight.
It could possibly be due to variations in fertilizer or water. The new sod will adjust and soon you’ll see a uniform look across your lawn.
Soil types can vary between sod pallets. After a few weeks all the soils will have blended together.
With sod installation, you’ll receive a new, lush lawn instantly.
